$hamrock's Top 5 "Money" Tracks
The homie $hamrock’s new album Money Green hits stores in 1 week on September 4th, 2012. In honor of his new release, we asked him to pick 5 of his favorite “Money” themed records. Check out his picks and explanation below:
5. $hamrock – “Money Callin” ft. Jelly Roll ($hamrock - Money Green)
‘I had to pick this song me and Jelly just cut because it’s definitely a feeling any real hustler can relate to. You got this itch that a play is about to come your way and make you some money. This is the perfect ringtone to set for your plug.”
4. OJ da Juiceman – “I’m Gettin Money” (OJ da Juiceman – The Otha Side of the Trap…)
“Funky Zaytiggy track and Juiceman’s breakout record in Atlanta. He took the most basic phrase and made a hook out of it that everyone liked. It’s dope because it’s laidback as hell but still gets you motivated to go get some money.”
3. Plies – “I Got Plenty Money” (Plies – Da Realist)
“The beat is crazy, Drumma Boi got the guitars going crazy. Plies is on the record just talking shit, but there’s few who do it as well as him. The whole club screams the hook especially when they drop the beat on certain parts.”
2. Snoop Dogg – “Gin & Juice” (Snoop Dogg – Doggystyle)
“I know it’s not about money the whole song, but that phrase “With my mind on my money and my money on my mind” is the part that really stands out to me. That simple phrase is iconic to me and I know I’ve used it before in a verse.”
1. Wu-Tang Clan – “CREAM” (Wu-Tang Clan – Enter the Wu Tang (36 Chambers) )
“Everyone everywhere loves the song man. North, South, West coast, East coast, it’s just one of the those undeniable records from the flows to the beat. It’s a classic in every sense of the word and it also represents that time when Wu was such an amazing collective. “Cash rules everything around me” is the foundation of a true hustler’s mindframe.”
